Mahailia has been providing bespoke jewellery commissions since 2002. This has meant hundreds of bespoke commissions, and hundreds of happy customers! Each piece is different and brings new experience to draw on for the next brief we undertake. We want to create beautiful, bespoke pieces of jewellery that are completely individual to the wearer and tell their stories. Our aim is to create timeless bespoke pieces that will not damage the earth.
Because my work is mainly bespoke each piece is exciting and different, and I feel this keeps my outlook fresh - I like to think a good designer is like an empty vessel - receptive to being filled with the ideas of the person providing the brief. I love communicating with my customers - and really enjoy making engagement rings, wedding and commitment rings as I find it very romantic and exciting to make a symbol of someones love. Ethics and nature are very important to me - so it is paramount to be able to create jewellery that does not have an impact on the earth or the people and creatures who live on it. We reflect this in our personal life as well by trying to grow as much food as we can and keeping our footprint as small as possible in anyway we can. It is not unusual for a chicken to wander into the workshop - or for us to be making jewellery in wellies! I am lucky to have the help of my husband Stuart - who does the photography, helps with creative decisions, makes jewellery with me, holds my hand when I am making very difficult pieces and also acts as my own personal spell check! We truly are a team and it is a wonderful feeling sitting at our bench together finishing a pair of wedding rings for someone. We want to keep our business small and personal as we feel that gives us a level of customer service and focus on the individual that a bigger company could simply not achieve. I love to make precious pieces of bespoke and ethical jewellery for amazing individuals!
